Church Asks Elders To Leave In Attempt to Attract New, Young Members

Church: I'm shocked by this article that I read this morning.  It is not "fake news."

Cottage Grove church to usher out gray-haired members in effort to attract more young parishioners

In response, I offer this bible verse about community:

That there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together. Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it. (I Corinthians 12:25-27)
I have been concerned for a while, and have mentioned as much, on occasion, that the church is becoming "too cool for the room."  Pastor Keenan and I had a long discussion recently about the tragic meshing of American culture and Christianity -- so much so, that many in leadership positions, and even we, too frequently become blind to it.

There are a lot of concerning things happening in the body of Christ today, but to me, a church actively seeking to divide its members in an attempt to appear relevant to young people is, by far, the greatest concern.

I invite your thoughts and hope for the chance to explore this together further.
