If I were the devil ...
By Paul Harvey© 2009 WorldNetDaily.com
I would gain control of the most powerful nation in the world;
I would delude their minds into thinking that they had come from man's effort, instead of God's blessings;
I would promote an attitude of loving things and using people, instead of the other way around;
I would dupe entire states into relying on gambling for their state revenue;
I would convince people that character is not an issue when it comes to leadership;
I would make it legal to take the life of unborn babies;
I would make it socially acceptable to take one's own life, and invent machines to make it convenient;
I would cheapen human life as much as possible so that the life of animals are valued more than human beings;
I would take God out of the schools, where even the mention of His name was grounds for a lawsuit;
I would come up with drugs that sedate the mind and target the young, and I would get sports heroes to advertise them;
I would get control of the media, so that every night I could pollute the mind of every family member for my agenda;
I would attack the family, the backbone of any nation.
I would make divorce acceptable and easy, even fashionable. If the family crumbles, so does the nation;
I would compel people to express their most depraved fantasies on canvas and movie screens, and I would call it art;
I would convince the world that people are born homosexuals, and that their lifestyles should be accepted and marveled;
I would convince the people that right and wrong are determined by a few who call themselves authorities and refer to their agenda as politically correct;
I would persuade people that the church is irrelevant and out of date, and the Bible is for the naive;
I would dull the minds of Christians, and make them believe that prayer is not important, and that faithfulness and obedience are optional;
I guess I would leave things pretty much the way they are.

Wife of Steven Curtis Chapman writes about her loss

WOW! It was one year ago that Steven Curtis Chapman's son accidently drove over his little adopted daughter, Maria. Can you imagine going through that as a family. Her is a blog written by Steven's wife, just a few days ago. Found on www.stevencurtischapman.com

May 21, 2009
A MOTHER'S HEART FOR TWO VERY BRAVE CHAPMAN CHILDREN!

Never in a million years would I think I would be sitting here on May 21, 2009 writing to you, my faithful blog friends about this. Most of my words will seem empty today because I'm kind of in a surreal place in my heart as I try and express this Journey that the Chapman family has been on this past year! Here is what I FEEL as this day starts out. Sad beyond sad that she isn't here, angry and mad that this had to happen, confused and bewildered that it had to involve Maria's big brother that absolutely adored her, paralyzing fear that I won't be able to pull through the pain and be able to completely let her go...because she wasn't mine to begin with, and speechless to know how to grieve my baby girl who gave me soooo much laughter and joy and then turn around and hold tightly to the young man who is walking through this tragedy at 18 years old...Maria's buddy, Will, (the bravest young man I know!), and at my darkest place, I wonder.....God, where are you and why in the world would you choose us to walk this out....It isn't fair! And then, all of a sudden, I hear this other voice in my head that reminds me over and over again of not what I FEEL, but what I KNOW....It might on certain days be buried deep down in my heart and have a hard time computing to my brain, but here is what I know and what I choose to believe, over and over again....even when it is really just a bad day! I know God loves me and my family, I know God is sovereign and He knows what is best for us, I know He has our days numbered and makes NO mistakes, I know that He will bring beauty from ashes....He has too....that is what I cling to in order to make it through another 24 hours. Isaiah 53:3 kept going through my head the day of the accident..."that He was a man of sorrows and familiar with suffering" I said it over and over and over again. He is a Savior who took on the suffering for ALL of us. He knows what it is like to suffer! I love how the Message version of the bible states Psalms 30:5 "The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter." I have to CHOOSE to believe this right now. I have cried so many tears mixed with sadness of missing Marian, to the joy of remembering her! I think when those tears get all mixed up together and fall, it has to water the dry places of our hearts and begin to slowly start healing us. If not, I would just wither up and die. I believe that God has not wasted a single bucket of tears that have been cried for this brave little girl who so wanted her brother to put her on the monkey bars that day, and the brave young man that has chosen to allow God to begin to heal him and use him for His glory! I can only begin to imagine the story and testimony that Will Franklin will have. But please, don't stop praying for Him...As with any tragic situation, there are good days and not so good days. While we prayed for two miracles one year ago today....that Maria's life would be spared and that Will's life would be spared... God obviously knew He needed a spunky little stinker named Maria with Him, while He needed a very brave heroic young man to begin to tell the testimony of how Christ is ministering mercy and peace to him. There is no doubt in my mind that God will change lives through Will Franklin's walk with Christ...so please, please, pray God's protection over him that he would continue to allow God's healing power to pour over him! I told someone yesterday that I feel as though I'm not just walking through a desert right now....I'm actually wondering through it with no clear path in front of me....It is a very desperate place to be, and on lots of days, I'm strong on the outside but a mess on the inside....but I must hold on to the very real fact that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for me....that where He is I will also be! That is very, very good news...because my Maria is there....in that BIG BIG House....with lots and lots of rooms and food! I will see her again, and I will be with her then,far longer than I have to be without her now! It stinks on this side of the vale and at times I've tied my knot on the end of my rope and I am just barley hanging on....but I'm hanging!"Even the saddest things can become, once we have made peace with them, a source of wisdom and strength for the journey that still lies ahead." Frederick BuechnerI'm pretty certain that I am still on the journey of making peace with the fact that this tragedy happened to our family...none the less I'm journeying on...Once I get that far I am trusting that the giver and taker of life will bestow the wisdom and strength needed to journey faithfully to the end of my time here on Earth, where I'll hear and SEE Christ say...."Well done my good and faithful servant".....and then I will run straight into the arms of that little curious george who I'm sure will be standing there in her monkey underwear and nothing else....but a big grin that makes it all OK!I wanted to also take this time to thank the thousands of you who have sent comments, e-mails, cards, letters, memorials....We are completely humbled by your goodness and kindness to continue to lift us up in this way and by continuing to pray for our whole family! We know for certain that it is those prayers that we PHYSICALLY feel daily that is helping us get up in the mornings, and to simply breathe! We love you all so much. Please don't stop!

A beautiful and touching tribute to the men and women of our U.S. Military
"REMEMBER ME"
done by 15 Year old Lizzie Palmer-- 2007~~~
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
IT IS THE SOLDIER

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Charles Province

Charles M. Province founded the George S. Patton, Jr. Historical Society. In addition to the poem, “It is the Soldier,” he authored three books on Patton: The Unknown Patton, Patton’s Third Army, and Patton’s One-Minute Messages.

Province is a veteran of the United State Army. He appeared in the documentary, The 100 Greatest War Films.

Cancer is so limited

On the heels of the Farrah Fawcett documentary on TV, I ran across something that I have kept in my files for years.

Cancer is so limited

It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot eat away peace
It cannot destroy confidence
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot shut out memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot reduce eternal life
It cannot quench the spirit
It cannot lessen the power of the resurrection

For ALL The Moms......

FOR ALL THE MOMS...

This is for all the mothers who DIDN'T win Mother of the Year in 2008. All the runners-up and all the wannabes. The mothers too tired to enter or too busy to care.

This is for all the mothers who froze their buns off on metal bleachers at football games Friday night instead of watching from cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see my tackle?" they could say, "Of course, wouldn't have missed it for the world"...and mean it.

This is for all the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf, laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here."

This is for all the mothers of Darfur who fled in the night and can't find their children.

This is for all the mothers of the victims of the latest school shooting and the mother of the shooter. For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.

For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.

What makes a good mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time? Or is it heart? The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 a.m. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby? The need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a school shooting, a fire, a car accident, a baby dying?

I think so.

This is for reading "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then reading it again..."Just one more time."

This is for all the mothers who mess up. Who yell at their kids in despair in the grocery store.

This is for all the mothers who taught their daughters to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.

For all the mothers who bite their lips--sometimes until they bleed--when their 14-year-olds dye their hair green. Who lock themselves in the bathroom when babies keep crying when you put them to bed and won't stop.

This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.

This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot. This is for all mothers whose heads turn automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home.

This is for mothers who put pinwheels and teddy bears on their children's graves.

This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them. This is for all the mothers who sent their sons to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.

This is for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation. And mature mothers learning to let go. For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Single mothers and married mothers. Mothers with money, mothers without.

This is for you all.

Winners of Make Mom An MVP contest

Congratulations to the winners of Smile FM's "Make Your Mom An MVP" contest. The winners will get front row seats at the DownHere concert with special guests Thicker Than Water this Mother's Day, May 10th, 6 PM at Bristol Road Church of Christ in Flint.

The winners had these great things to say about why their mom's were special:

Jon of Burton: She is always willing to listen to me when I need a supportive ear.

Sean of Leslie: My mom, a mother of 4 worked hard for over 15 years as a medical transcriptionist to help support her family. In 1994 my mother was in a terrible accident with my 3 younger siblings, she fell asleep at the wheel and hit atelephone poll. Thank God she and my siblings survived. Shortly after my motherwas diagnosed with a severe sleep disorder, narcolepsy. Since her diagnosis her condition has gotten significantly worse. She has developed clinical depression,and has had several suicide attempts. By the grace of God, she has survived and with prayer and determination she is getting better. My mother is always there for me, no matter how depressed or tired she is, she is truly my rock.

Debbie of Grand Blanc: My mom was extra special cause she raised me to not be ashamed of myfaith. I saw her battle breast cancer and know that whatever the Lord's will, shewould be in heaven celebrating with the angels. She went home to be with Him in 1984after a 10 month battle, and I still miss her, but I know someday, I'll be with her!I am sure she would be praising Jesus at the concert, but she gets to do it live inheaven!

Shannon Marie of Flint: She is TOTALLY SELFLESS, totally - a beautiful teacher and stong as amountain! She is beautiful , very funny! and a TRUE disciple of our Lord Jesus. Sheis the rock and doesn't even realize it ! What a blessed example to everyone she is!

Mother's Day...for the rest of us

Mike Atkinson with 'Mikeys Funnies' writes:

"Since I lost my mom to cancer 14 years ago and my daughter-in-law lost Jacob
Michael in childbirth a couple of years ago, I'm especially sensitive to
those who won't enjoy it. That's why I've collected this page as a resource
for others, to help you understand the great number of people who experience
pain, not joy, on Mother's Day.

I've received some impassioned responses from people over the years that brings me pause before Mother's Day. In the midst of a weekend enjoyed by so many women with kids (including my own), there are so many who are not enjoying it - but wish they were. I'll let them speak for themselves":

"The Hand of Hope" 10 years later.

If you've seen the picture, it would be very difficult to ever forget! At 21 weeks, during surgery in utero, when baby Samuel grabbed the surgeons finger!

On his 9th birthday, here's some of what Samuel has to say: "When I see that picture, the first thing I think of is how special and lucky I am to have God use me that way," Samuel told FOXNews.com. "I feel very thankful that I was in that picture."
